Bert Cocu



Bert Cocu (born 8 July 1964, Almelo) is a Dutch rowing coach and teacher.
Cocu started rowing at the student rowing club Okeanos, Amsterdam where he had several committee jobs and was at one point vice-president of the club.
He started coaching in 1990 and since 1996 he has coached the women's elite level. His crews have won several national championships (W2-/4-/8+) and international medals (world cup and world championship). He was assistant to Duncan Holland in 2002 and 2003 and founder and project leader of the Women's Eight in 2004 until the Olympic Qualification Regatta. The crew won a bronze medal at the Olympics. From 2003 to 2010 he has been assistant development woman's coach to high performance coaches Maarten Rups van der Linde, Josy Verdonkschot and Coen Eggenkamp at the Royal Dutch Rowing Federation. In 2013 Cocu moved to Melbourne to start coaching at (Melbourne University Boat Club )
